Considering the Six

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

The Six arises from the cumulation and transcendence of the Five. This can be seen in the Chakra system. As we move up the Sushumna, each successive Chakra corresponds to an element of the five in declining density.

We begin at the Muladhara, which corresponds to the Earth element. This is the most dense and gross of the elements. It pertains to our physicality and our physical needs. This is the beginning of our body.

At Svadhisthana we reach the Water element. Here we begin to experience our feelings. From our feelings and emotions rises our creativity and self-expression.

Manipura is the beginning of our power. It is the Fire element. From it we discover our will and our purpose with which and for which we strive in this life.

Anahata is the Air element. Here we learn to relate to others and gain a broader outlook on the world. We realize that there is more to life than just ourselves. At the same time, we find here the true self. That which lies deeper and beyond the exterior circumstances and concerns.

Vishuddha is the Aether. It is the point at which we begin to teach and share the knowledge and wisdom we have gained thus far in our travels through the lessons of the elements. Just as Aether is the most expansive element and contains within it all of the other four.

Now then, we reach the Sixth. This is represented by the Agya (or Anja) Chakra. Here, we have transcended the elements and have reached a level of purity and completeness to our mind and perception. It is from this point that we project our intentions and thereby forge our realities. This is the point through which the Five are sent out into the world to create and shape it in accordance with our will. In turn, we also perceive the nature of things more clearly as they are. The Six, in this way, represents our ability to make use of the Five in crafting the 10,000 things. At the Six, the speech and clamor of the Five fall silent... Words are no longer needed. All that remains is knowing.
